What's Happening at FFF!... Posted by karin on Jun 15th, 2009.

I have been so bad about updating our What's Going On At FFF page and I am so sorry. Real life has been hectic and I'm sure most of you can relate to that! Actually it's kinda scary! EEK! But with help from my friends at FFF I manage to survive...that's what family is all about! :)

For instance, I started selling at a new farmers market this year and volunteered to do a blog for them. I needed some help with recipes using blueberries and our members came to my rescue! Also learned some new ways to prepare the abundance of asparagus that we had. That, along with the fact that sugar snap peas freeze beautifully. Almost (not quite) makes me wish for winter so I can enjoy the goodies in my freezer!

Our members are all talking about the dreaded question every mom has once school ends! What the heck do we do to entertain the kids during the summer and still stay within our budget? I couldn't believe the hints and tips, almost made me want to be young again! And, how about those that had children (young adults) that graduated this year..how the heck do you afford to send them to college? Our members have shared resources for scholarships and other means of funding their education.

Anyone have any knowledge of how the heck to convert a church into a home? We have a member who is seriously considering buying a church and doing just that. It's been so much fun keeping up with the news and updates. I'm sure they (her hubby is a member too) would love some input.

I'm off to work in my garden, another love of many of our members, so stayed tuned for more updates after I wash the dirt off of my hands! :) If you would like to join our wonderful group just head to www.fractured.net/joinusand sign up today. You can even ask us questions at our Guest HouseAA

March into Spring!... Posted by karin on Mar 3rd, 2009.

Believe it or not, winter is almost over. I know it seems hard to believe when most of our members are covered in snow and dealing with freezing temperatures. But, it really is time to start thinking about spring and gardening! Hey, with the price of food nowadays everyone should take advantage of every inch of space that you have to grow your own vegetables. You don't have to acres of land, you don't even have to have land! If you've got a sunny area and a pot with some soil, you can have vegetables! Our gardening gals are busy talking about what they are going to plant and where they'll plant those seeds. Join in, we love to see more dirty hands!

We've also been having quite a few discussions about the economy. How can you not need to talk about the rising cost of living, the dwindling of your savings/retirement accounts. It's nice to know that you're not alone right now. We're all adding our thoughts, hints, tips and suggestions on how to make it through this rough time. It can be done!

And, before I sign off I have to tell you about the participation that we've had amongst members in our hunt for living the frugal life. I am amazed at how many members have jumped on the coupon train! Heck, a penny saved is a penny earned! We're sharing ways to cut down on your grocery budget and still make sure your family doesn't get in a rut eating the same old thing. I know I've started adding barley to my soups. It tastes wonderful and it makes it more filling so it goes further!

One more tip. If you have used a product that you love, email the manufacturer and tell them. Chances are they will send you coupons. Suppose you tried a product and didn't like...I recently did that. I emailed the company and explained why I was disappointed and they sent me coupons for eight rolls of toilet paper...FREE! I love when my mailman drops stuff like that in my mailbox. So, take the time to express your opinions and most times it will pay off.
